There are many websites that are helpful for students preparing for college admission.
The College Board: www.collegeboard.com
The College Board is a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, the association is composed of more than 5,400 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves seven million students and their parents, 23,000 high schools, and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, and teaching and learning. Among its best-known programs are the SAT®, the PSAT/NMSQT®, and the Advanced Placement Program® (AP®). The College Board is committed to the principles of excellence and equity, and that commitment is embodied in all of its programs, services, activities, and concerns.
For personalized feedback, practice, and college planning based on PSAT/NMQST results, visit www.collegeboard.com/quickstart.
College Board now provides two free on-line services to help students make the most of their SAT testing experience:
- SAT Skills Insight - go to www.collegeboard.com/satskillsinsight to find out the types of skills demonstrated within certain scores & suggestions for future improvement with scores
- My SAT Online Score Report - go to www.collegeboard.com/scorereport to find the meaning behind the numbers in your score. This tool explains the percentiles, allows the student to see a copy of their essay, and details about his/her performance on different types of questions.
ACT: www.actstudent.org
Signing up online for the ACT is faster and costs the same as registering by mail with the paper folder. With online registration, you can know immediately if your preferred test center has space for you to test and print your admission ticket. The Act site also offers information about test preparation, scores, college planning, and financial aid.
GA College 411 - www.GAcollege411.org
GAcollege411.org is a powerful website that helps Georgia students plan, apply, and pay for college. The site, launched February 2005, is a free service of the State of Georgia provided by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) and its many Georgia partners. Each month, a GAcollege411 Update will provide statistics, significant recent developments, and upcoming events.
