Brentwood Athletics is an important part of the school's mission to prepare its students "to be well-rounded citizens." Since the school's founding, hundreds of Brentwood students have learned sportsmanship, dedication, loyalty, teamwork, personal responsibility, and leadership on the playing fields and courts of the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) and its predecessor, the Southeastern Association of Independent Schools (SEAIS).
Today nearly 80% of Brentwood's students participate in at least one of the school's 23 interscholastic athletic teams and receive valuable lessons in responsibility to their team(s), their school, and themselves.
A commitment to excellence is supported by the school's administration, its faculty, coaches, parents, grandparents, alumni, and student-athletes. During the 2014-2015, 2016-2017, 2017-2018 school term, Brentwood finished 1st place as 'Drake Award' recipients. The Drake award is a measurement of overall athletic performance within state competitions.
Brentwood's athletics program is dedicated to the development of the whole person -- mind, body, and spirit. Youngsters who experience the meaning of sportsmanship through athletic competition receive an understanding of life that will help shape their own personal philosophies and enhance their future.
Brentwood School has a long tradition of athletic excellence, as Lady Eagle and Eagle teams have captured 31 state and 134 region championships since 1971. Brentwood is currently a member of Region 4-AA of the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) Interscholastic division.
During the Fall, the school fields teams at the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school levels in girls' fast-pitch Softball; varsity and junior varsity teams in both girls' and boys' Cross-Country; varsity, middle school, and elementary school teams in Football; varsity and junior varsity squads in the sport of Competitive Cheerleading with lower grade football cheer teams; and varsity Clay target shooting.
In the winter, Brentwood teams compete at the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school levels in both girls' and boys' Basketball. The school also offers an intramural basketball program for students in grades 3 through 6.
Spring is also a busy time of year, as Brentwood fields varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams in Baseball; varsity and middle school teams in both girls' and boys' Track and Field; varsity teams in both girls' and boys' Tennis; and a varsity Golf team.
The athletics program is a key component of the school's mission. The program aims to create leadership skills, build personal relationships, self-discipline, mutual respect and good sportsmanship. Student athletes can use our program as a platform to showcase their skills for future participation at the collegiate level.
