Samantha Carter Named Washington County DAR Good Citizen
January 15, 2026
Congratulations to Senior Samantha Carter on being named the Washington County Good Citizen Award Winner!
Samantha was recognized with this honor during the January meeting for the Jared Irwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest is designed to encourage and reward the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. This prestigious recognition honors high school seniors who consistently demonstrate these traits in their homes, schools, and communities. Students are selected by their teachers and peers because they exemplify good citizenship to an outstanding degree.
After being chosen as our school's DAR Good Citizen, Samantha advanced to the scholarship portion of the program, which included a personal statement and an essay. This year's essay topic focused on the 250th Birthday of the United States of America.
An independent and anonymous panel of judges selected Samantha's essay as the winning piece for Washington County!
She will receive a DAR scholarship and commemorative pin during our Honors Day program this spring. Samantha will now advance to the District-level of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award for additional judging.
Additional congratulations to Lillie McDonald, who was selected as the Washington County High School DAR Good Citizen!
Thank you to the members of our local Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter for recognizing Samantha and for annually holding this meaningful contest and honor.
We are extremely proud of Samantha for the character, leadership, and patriotism she represents!
