Memories

I remember coming back from summer break and everyone talking about how the new Coach bought them Dairy Lane milkshakes at camp. So who was this Coach? Well, I found out one day shooting hoops at lunch. We were all shooting free throws. Over walks the coach and says, "Are you Rebecca?" And after a nod, he says,"I know who your Mama is and you're playing basketball!" That pretty much added basketball athletics to my track and previous cheerleading career, although it was the end to my cheerleading. I recently found a photo of one of those games and had such great memories. Yes, my Mom was a basketball star. And yes she played with us and used her left hook on us at home. But she never forced me to go to camp or to be on the team. So I have her to thank for that great experience, but also to Coach Young for pretty much directing me onto the team. It didn't sound like I had a choice at the time, and I wouldn't have changed it. I never did get a milkshake though. Should have gone to camp, I guess. But we did get Dairy Lane incentives from time to time and I think it boosted our skills!
